Britannia Hotel

San Jose, Central Valley, Costa Rica
24 rooms / 3 stars / $76

Located in Barrio Amon, the Britannia Hotel is a home that belonged to the Spanish emigrant Cipriano Perano Herrero, a wealthy coffee producer. The construction company Van der Laat & Jimenez acquired and remodeled the residence.

Jorge Brenes, general manager, showed us that the building is brick with cement and has 24 rooms, all with upholstered walls. The furniture is classic and imported, such as those in the lobby. With beautiful high ceilings, arches and stained glass windows letting in colorful light; all this creates the warm Victorian atmosphere of the Britannia.
